Election results are in

So the results are in and i am sad! There were two races i really cared about and both people i wanted to win lost! Jason Chaffetz and Obama won :( oh well guess America has spoken.

I dont know i am just a fan of small government and I dont believe Obama is moving in this direction! I just hope he wont try and move us has far left as he has promised during his campaign!! i am also not a fan of taxing the rich to help out the middle class! Those people (well most) worked long and hard to get where they are and they should not have to pay extra just because they are successful! Really i think people need to learn to help them self's and not relay on government handouts. I don't think its our governments job to help us with mortgages and bankruptcy's and health care. Yes we need some guidelines but we dont need them to help us with everything! We need to teach people to be self reliant and be able to do things for them self's and not rely on the government to do it for us. I am okay with the government helping people out when they are getting started but while having that help people should be bettering them selfs so they no longer need it. And really i am tired of people saying college is soo unaffordable! Go out get a job and get a loan put your self through college, i did it you can too!

This election was hard for me because I really did not like either candidates. I was not a huge McCain fan, and i was not an Obama fan by any measure. I voted for McCain because he had the most ideas on his platform that went along with how i thought. Oh well guess i can always hope for Romney in 2012! lol The one thing i am most annoyed with is all the Obama people accusing McCain followers of not researching their candidates because as they have told me if you read their platforms how could you not vote for Obama (don't believe this is happening go look on facebook i am self was accused by three people!)

The great thing about America is we can all have different opinions and think our own way and somehow it all works. So stop thinking just because someone voted one way they did not read up on their Candide's! America is great God wont let it fail!! It will all work out no matter who is president, it just might mean some of us don't like the new practices that are in place in our government, but you know what in 4 years their will be another election and we can make a change then if needed!

AND YAY Prop 8 passed!!!! Oh here is something VERY interesting my friend posted on her blog

The following are excerpts from a talk Neal A. Maxwell gave at BYU in October of 1978, and was printed in the February 1979 Ensign. It was entitled, "A More Determined Discipleship."
Elder Maxwell certainly was speaking prophetically.

"Make no mistake about it, brothers and sisters, in the months and years ahead, events are likely to require each member to decide whether or not he will follow the First Presidency. Members will find it more difficult to halt longer between two opinions. President Marion G. Romney said, many years ago, that he had 'never hesitated to follow the counsel of the Authorities of the Church even though it crossed my social, professional or political life.'

"This is hard doctrine, but it is particularly vital doctrine in a society which is becoming more wicked. In short, brothers and sisters, not being ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ includes not being ashamed of the prophets of Jesus Christ. . . . Your discipleship may see the time when such religious convictions are discounted. . . . This new irreligious imperialism seeks to disallow certain opinions simply because those opinions grow out of religious convictions."

"Resistance to abortion will be seen as primitive. Concern over the institution of the family will be viewed as untrendy and unenlightened.... Before the ultimate victory of the forces of righteousness, some skirmishes will be lost. Even in these, however, let us leave a record so that the choices are clear, letting others do as they will in the face of prophetic counsel. There will also be times, happily, when a minor defeat seems probable, but others will step forward, having been rallied to rightness by what we do. We will know the joy, on occasion, of having awakened aslumbering majority of the decent people of all races and creeds which was, till then, unconscious of itself. Jesus said that when the fig trees put forth their leaves, 'summer is nigh.' Thus warned that summer is upon us, let us not then complain of the heat."

--- Elder Neal A. Maxwell

I also do not like Chaffetz. I voted for Spencer! What was interesting to me about the Chaffetz win was that 27% of voters who said that they think all illegal immigrants should stay voted for Chaffetz, so I think most people just don't know his policies or immigration isn't their big issue. That was just surprising to me considering how anti-illegal immigration he is and how he said he wants to deport all illegal immigrants no questions asked (I think I recall at one point I read something about how he wants to create some kind of holding facility for them, which sounded a lot like the ones we had for the Japanese after Pearl Harbor).
