happy birthday to me!

So Sunday was my 24th birthday!! We had a lot of fun! My brother Chris's birthday is on June 26th so my parents tool us up the canyon on Saturday for a BBQ! it was a really good and fun to be with family, and i got the cutest purse ever from them! After lunch, Derek and I headed out leaving Jackie behind with my parents! We went out to dinner at Tucannos...MAN had i forgotten what it was like to eat out with out a toddler! I got to enjoy the WHOLE meal, and not worry a bit about my messes, if Jackie needed anything, getting her food ect.! And dude since it was my birthday my meal was free! Join the birthday club, every year a free meal the month of your birthday!!

It was a nice break....then we went to the drive in out in west valley! I had never been to a drive in before and you get to see 2 movies for $7 a piece i was SO IN! So we went and say Up and The Proposal....good shows, not what i expected but still good!! And it was just SO much fun to have some time alone with Derek for so long, we go out occasionally but for just a couple hours! This time we had all night! The movies did not get over until 1:30 am so we got home really late, and getting up for church at 9 am lol well that was hard since my stupid alarm did not go off we woke up at 9 lol haha we made it though just REALLY REALLY late! haha church was nice with out Jackie too....i got to not miss anything lol. One day my child will like to go to nursery i am sure of it!

After church we went up to pick Jackie up.....she was as happy as could be. I guess sleeping over at grandparents house's is really fun! She loved it! I think she just likes all the attention she gets since she is their one and only grand kid right now! She is spoiled to death up there with attention! She has been asking ever since to go back to grandpas house haha.

After that we went up to Derek's parents for dinner. :) it was nice to see everyone and be with family! I do not have any pictures because well i just did not bring my camera OPPS! Just trust me everyone was cute, it was fun, i am older :)

you know your pregnant when......

  • Sleep is a distant fond memory
  • Every where you go you make sure you scout out the fastest route to the bathroom
  • You carry around paper sacks in your purse
  • You hate food
  • You love food
  • You can not wait to feel your baby kick for the first time
  • You want them to stop kicking
  • Certain smells will send you running
  • You have banned foods from your home
  • You send your husband out at all hours to get you something to eat because, "the baby wants it"
  • One minute your crying, then you are yelling, then you are laughing
  • You have taken over the whole bed with pillows
  • You have to have a box of tissues with you on the couch while watching TV...those darn commercials!
  • You let people take pictures of you with a growing belly
  • You find entertainment in watching your belly "dance"
  • While shopping for clothes you think hmmm will this be big enough in 3 months
  • tums become your best friend
  • You worry about peeing your pants if you sneeze or cough
  • You wonder what your feet look like
  • you have started putting sticky notes every where just so you can remember what you are supposed to be doing today
  • You beg your husband to shave your legs because you just can not reach all the way down any more
  • you realize you need a bigger towel
  • You have yelled at your belly more then once
  • You love that little baby more then anything and do not care what it takes to get them here

K all you moms or soon to be out there add some more to the list!

ramblings of Jackie as of late

Jackie is getting pretty funny when it comes to talking...she always has something to say

here are some of my favorites from last week

  • " i want a baby in my tummy"
  • when asked were Baby Abby is, "baby in mama's tummy, baby kicking mama"
  • while holding her tummy "baby kicking me!"
  • after touching out tummy's together, "Abby my tummy mommy, Abby kicking me"
  • "Happy fathers day!"
  • "i want to see your owie please", "i kiss better k mama"
  • "I big sister"
  • after i told her we were having taco soup for dinner "Taco soup! I love Taco soup"
yes most all about the new addition coming, but Jackie seems to be more and more interested in it as time passes :)

test test test

I had my monthly check up today 26 weeks baby! It was time for the glucose screening and can i just say how much i HATE that test! With Jackie and now with this one it makes me so freaking sick, and a little too paranoid about missing the hour window and having to do it all over again....okay that was a lie i was A LOT paranoid. I spent all last night freaking out about the time frame and how i was going to make it work. My doc apt was at 8:50 the lab did not open until 9....hard to say how long the appointment will take because i have the luck on coming in on days that there is some emergency. So i decided this morning after worrying all night.....that i would just drink it when i got to the doctor, that way i would be sure to be okay. Anyway i drank it at 8:50, and go figure the doc was running right on time so i was done by 9:10 with my apt. lol so we got to wait around for a 40 minutes before i could take the test. But alas i got it all done :)

VBAC or c-section....the constant debate in my head

During my appointment today we talked a lot more in depth about what i want to do for labor. If i want a VBAC or c section. I did not think it would be such a hard choice, but I can not seem to figure out what i want to do!

I love my doctor though, and all the doctors at my doc's office because they are all VERY supportive of a VBAC and encourage it! I have always been told this is not normal so i am glad that my doctor is!

Back story on why I had a c section in the first place! I had been sick a few days before i went into labor with Jackie. I went into labor sometime during the night. I woke up around 7 am with contractions that were 5 minutes apart. Now i was not aware that i was in labor, lol i just kept getting stabbing pains in my back every 5 minutes, after speaking to my mom and doctor they told me it was labor and to come get checked in to the hospital.

Me being the skeptic i was about ever getting the baby out of me, decided to not go to the hospital but go up to the doctors and have them check me :) so I drove up, my doc was at the hospital doing surgery so i saw one of the mid wife's. She said i was at a 3 and most likely in labor just having back labor. I was very concerned because since i was having contractions I had not felt Jackie move much at all, which was odd because she was a VERY active baby when i was sleeping. So i had a NST (non stress test) which showed that her heart rate was very low and was drooping even lower when I was having contractions. So she told me to go to the hospital because they needed to keep a good eye on her. She told me to watch out because if it got lower she would not be able to make it through labor and i would have to have a c section.

I got there got all hooked up got my wonderful epidural, and well the heart rate kept dropping. They broke my water to find merconium, Finaly at 8:30 it was too low and they decided i needed a c section. So i was rushed in and out came Jackie. She was having breathing issues from an infection she got. But all turned out well.

SO NOW my delima is what do i do!! I have so many pros and cons to each option, and the doctor had some for me too.

I have a consent form that i have to sign stating what option i chose, and its full of information. I have been to many websites and read up on a lot talked with a few dulas and mid wife's and still yet i can not seem to decided.

The risks of something happening are really low less then 1% and then the risk of something bad happening if the uterus rupturs is about 25%. So its low, very low but those risks are pretty scary! I mean knowing that something could happen to the baby that i could have prevented...and something could happen to me! He kept assuring me that they can monitor it really well, they will be there at the hospital or at the office which is next door, so they will be close. But still i have that worry, but i am a worrier.

I also worry about the recovery from a VBAC, funny i know! I had the easiest recovery from my c section, i was fine after a week. No pains no nothing, i did not even need pain killer when i got home from the hospital. I worry about having a worse recovery from a VBAC.

But there are SO many good benefits. Its better for baby, less risk of infection, less risk of breathing problems, quicker recover, less time in the hospital, easier time breast feeding!

a few down sides I can not be induced so if she is late I will just have to ride it out. My mom wants to get time off to be here, if i have a c section it would be easy to arrange, if I don't it would be a lot harder for her. I think it would be really nice not to have to worry about when the baby will come and to just know when it will be.

So i just don't know. I think i want to just plan on a VBAC and then i guess if i get to worried while in labor i can always just tell them to cut me open! So i don't know....sorry to ramble so much, but it helps me think :) i would love your input! :)

what happens when you let a 2 year old dress themself

So we had to run and pick up Derek at 11pm from work. Jackie was running around in her big girl pants so i told her to get dressed. She got her pants she had been wearing and put them on inside out and then put her night shirt on but missed an arm. She was pretty proud of her self and would not let me fix it. As we were on our way to get Derek she kept saying that we needed to get Daddy ice cream....so Jackie got one too :)

Bumps explained

Remember a while back I asked if anyone got bumps while pregnant? Well I decided to go to the dermatologist and get a biopsy so they could finally give me some answers, I was a little sick of the response I do not know.

WARNING I WILL COMPLAIN IN THIS POST!

Well I got the answer I figured I would get and one I really did not want to get. I know some of you out there know I have a disease called neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). (you can learn more about it here) It basically causes you to grow small harmless tumors on or under your skin. Well I have had a VERY mild case my whole life....I have a lot more symptoms then actual bumps, in fact I only ever had 3 that were under my skin...before i got pregnant. I guess change in hormone levels can affect it and cause more to grow.

So my bumps are Neurofibromas they will not go away unless i have them removed but since i now have more then i care to count I don't think i want that many scars all over my body. So i get to just live with it, i will most likely get more with each pregnancy. This is a scary thought to me! I really do not like the current ones i have and the chance of getting them on my face is something i really do not want!

I was born with NF1. My parents do not have it i got it through some sort if gene mutation. Unfortunately i have the chance to pass it on to each one of my children a 50% chance. Luckily since i have NF1 the less sever type my children can only get NF1 however they could get it worse then me or even have a more mild case then i did.

We are pretty sure Jackie has it. I need to take her to get testing for it. I hope Abigail does not have it. I feel horrible about the fact that I can pass this to my children. Knowing that I am giving them something that will affect them for the rest of their lives is sad and hard for me. I want to have a lot of kids. I want a big family. I grew up in a big family and loved it. I want my children to grow up in a big family, but yet I still have that fear. I worry that they will get some of the worse side effects that I avoided. Really I just worry I want my children to have EVERY opportunity and chance in like and do not want to hinder them, and this could.

When you look at it though 60% of people with it have a mild form, the next 20% have a correctable form, and the reaming 20% have problems that scare me! I guess the odds do look good, and if the Lord wants me to have children I need to have them and he will give them what ever he sees fit to go through in this life. Still I think its unfair and I just do not want to put my children through that, and really I do not want to be known as spots for the rest of my life....I am a cougar not a leopard!

Ridding the horse

This was the last ride of the day she was pretty tired at this point but she loved it! She is with her cousin Ava Jackie on the dolphins

My child has no fear this is the new ride this year! IT goes REALLY fast forwards and then backwards....Jackie kept yelling woooooo and weeeeee the whole time! Jackie on Puff with her aunt Nikki....mommy could not take her since she is currently housing Abby ;) she loved this one too! she had HUGE smiles during the whole ride!

Jackie on the boats with her cousin

She was pretty tired! This was her near the end of the day.....she was a trooper! She loved it! She did not like waiting in the lines or waiting for the rides to start but once they did she had a HUGE smile on her face :) When we got home all she wanted to do was talk about all the rides she went on....she keeps telling me about the boats, the horse, the cars with Ava....and going fast with daddy.....:) she is a cutie! and i am glad she is so willing to go on the bigger rides! we just hope it continues!

SWIMMING FUN!

Jackie loves to swim and always wants to go swimming so we got a little pool and put her slide out there! She loves it and every day asks to wear her strawberry! (lol that is what she calls her suit since there is one on it!)

Potty ideas?

so Jackie is still rocking it on the potty! she has been going all the time at home with no accidents for a few days now...only issue is she wont use the potty unless she is on a little potty.....so my question is do we just keep one in the car and bring it with us....how do you get them to use a reagualr potty.....lol and yes in my vocabulary the word restroom, bathroom, and toliet have all been replaced with potty......

Jackie is getting SO big and starting to get pretty opinionated too! She defiantly knows what she wants and gets upset sometimes if she does not get it, and has a hard time understanding why she can not do certain things at certain time...like why she can not go swimming at 11pm why the baby can not come out of my belly, why she can not fall back into mommy's tummy anymore, why she can not wear a sweatshirt in June in Utah......
But we are really really lucky with her, she is pretty good for the most part and does not have too many outbursts! She just always wants to be doing something and be on the move...she has SO much energy and a love for learning that she hates to hold still for too long! She wants to be running and playing and discovering all the time she keeps us on our toes and we love it!

My little big girl

Jackie is growing up! She is no longer my little baby and is my big girl!
Since about January she has liked the concept of the potty....she will use it off an on at her choosing, and gets very excited when anyone uses the potty!
She was never a fan of mommy or daddy telling her it was time to go. We let her go when she wanted and decided to let her do it on her time, i did not want to push her too much to go.
Well this weekend we decided it was time for the bottle to go. We let her have water in her bottle to go to bed but nothing else. She was not too happy about this, but seems to get it. Well Sunday she woke up and wanted to use the potty, and kept going in the toilet all day! Derek put her in pull ups (big girl pants) and she only had one accident!
When she woke up today she told me she was a big girl and wanted the diaper off, and her big girl pants on.....so far today she has gone in the potty all day for daddy! Lets hope it keeps up! I don't want two kids in diapers!
Guess i will just have to wait until September to have a baby in the house again....it seems my baby is growing up!
