baby slings

SOOO with Jackie i was given a sling to borrow, but did not get it until she was 4 months old. She hateted it and never liked the baby carrier eaither. I am determained to use a sling this time, i think with a todler it will be nessisary to have! So my question to you is what kind of slings do you guys like?? What would you recomend and what would you tell me to stay away from? thanks guys!

i've gone through lots of baby carriers too! Ethan never liked the sling either but LOVED the moby wrap and baby bjorn. And my friend just made me a mei tai carrier that I've heard good things about. So we'll see. Good luck finding out something to work for you!

I found one pattern on SewMamaSew.com, but Etsy.com has a lot more patterns. I think it would be super easy to sew these (i.e. straight lines:). But I would lean towards making one like the Moby wrap. I found after using mine that a). my baby liked it. b). my neck hated it and I was in pain a lot. I think a moby wrap would be better than my cute one.

Heidi Connelly has designed and sewn her own nursing covers; you should ask her to show you hers. I also have a vintage knit nursing shawl pattern but that doesn't help you if you don't knit. Have fun with your sewing machine and baby sling!

(okay forgot to tell you how to find the sling patterns on etsy) just type in the search at the top 'baby sling pattern.'

I've only heard great things about the Moby. I want a Maya wrap too though, because they are really pretty. My sister just got an Ergo and loves it if you want something with straps and buckles.

I made my own sling and love it, I'm sure you could find an easy pattern online.

The other thing is you could easily make your own Moby wrap and a lot of babies (and moms) love the wrap. All you have to do is buy a certain length of fabric and serge the edges and that's it! You can check it out at www.wearmybaby.com

Just for kicks, I found another cool website with 93+ sewing tutorials for mommies:

Love my Moby! Ryker loved it too and I could nurse walking around. It was great when he was fussy cause I could always "dance" him to sleep in it. I'm sure this time I will use it even more!!! But like others said, you could totally make one since its just a really long piece of fabric, and then just borrow someones DVD instructions to learn the tie. You really only have to do it once or twice and then you've mastered it.

I bought another one too to try with Lydia, but obviously haven't used it yet. I'll let you know how I like it but can't imagine anything more comfortable than my moby. Keep your eye on babysteals.com, they have slings on there quite often (some that are similar to the moby).

I never used a sling, but I loved loved my bjorn. I can get it back from a friend if you want to borrow it. Her baby is older now, so I am sure she would not mind!
